šŸ» You Should be Poaching Talent

You may not like it but there's no better way to get high-quality talent

When it comes to talent, you have basically two options.

1. Train the talent yourself
2. Let someone else train for you

Now option one is initially attractive since itā€™s usually cheaper, at least initially.

Find someone young and eager to learn, give ā€˜em some training videos and save some money since you donā€™t have to find someone with experience.

Now, thereā€™s no doubt you can save some money, but the strategy is risky.

Hereā€™s a less risky option for hires you absolutely must get right:

1. Use LinkedIn Sales Navigator to make a list of all your competitors
2. Filter to all employees in Latin America, Eastern Europe, or South Africa
3. Filter by experience & language
4. Add every single profile that fits steps 1-3

Too many profiles?

Use this cheat sheet to save up to 83% on payroll:

LatAm: Hubspot Talent, any role that needs English + Spanish
Eastern Europe: Developers, technical SEO specialists, Operations Talent
South Africa: Cold Callers, Media Buyers

For most roles with 2-5 years of experience, you should expect to pay $1500-$3500 for a full-time person. Thereā€™s more nuance than that, but this is the 80/20.

The reason I like this strategy is that you should be letting your (good) competitors teach talent the basics.

Thereā€™s no need to spend months or years developing junior talent if thatā€™s not your core competency.

Instead, get really good at finding talent that already knows the ropes, and taking them from good to great.

Donā€™t have the time or expertise to find great talent in LatAm, Eastern Europe or South Africa?
