š» My (asymmetric) growth bets for 2025
welcome back!
What forms of marketing or lead generation can I do in 2025 that have unlimited upside with a limited downside?
This is the question at the top of my mind as we approach the New Year.
I think of each of our marketing efforts as a series of bets.
Bad marketing bets have a high fixed cost and limited upside.
Decent bets have a balance between the cost to place the bet and the amount of upside.
Great bets (I call them asymmetric bets) have a (virtually) uncapped upside and a low fixed cost to place the bet.
In 2025, hereās where I think the asymmetric bets are in 2025:
1. Newsletter content
There are 1,0001 general business newsletters out there, but very very few newsletters for niche audiences.
Try doing a Google search for newsletters for agency owners, home service business owners, or some other niche audience.
Youāll be hard-pressed to find more than a dozen.
Good, consistent, Newsletter content takes a few hours (max) to write and has unlimited upside as you grow the list.
2. Overseas Talent
Iām a broken record at this point but stay with me.
There are two sides to asymmetric bets.
1. The cost to place the bet must be comparatively low.
2. The upside must be virtually unlimited.
Think of two companies.
One pays $50/hr for talent and the other pays $25/hr for comparable talent.
They both have access to the same number of bets with virtually uncapped upside.
But the second company has MORE asymmetric bets simply because the cost to place each bet is half of what it is for company one.
Companies that learn to place bets with skilled, technically proficient overseas talent are going to crush in 2025.
3. SEO and AI-optimized blogs
While everyoneās attention is focused on video, particularly short-form video, I think thereās a really interesting opportunity for companies to generate leads from good old-fashioned blogs.
Weāve been playing around with SEO at a few of my companies and the results have been shocking.
It is unbelievably easy to rank right now ā particularly for local or B2B niches.
I think weāre going to see some super interesting opportunities in AI search too.
Some big publishers are blocking AI companies from using their data in search results which is AWESOME for smaller websites.
So more traffic + fewer big plays = money machine.
Oh, and if you use overseas talent + AI to create higher quality content than what your competition can, itās game over.
