😬 Hidden costs of growing fast

First, all of them talked about how blessed they were to be growing that fast.

No doubt about it, strong sales fixes a ton of problems in agency life.

But the other thing both of them mentioned were the enormous (hidden) costs that came from scaling that fast.

The math on this is actually pretty fascinating.

Let’s say you have 10 clients and you’re struggling to keep up with account management.

Odds are you can probably just do the work yourself or re-task one of your other team members to help out until you can find a new account manager in 4-6 weeks.

Now let’s say you have 100 clients and you’re struggling to keep up with account management.

There’s no freaking way for you or any other one person to step up and fill the gap long enough for you to go out and find an account manager.

So if your account manager quits, suddenly you need to find someone good in a week instead of a month.

4x faster than before with higher consequences for not placing the role that fast.

But the amount of effort and money to fix problems 4x faster than normal isn’t 4x more.

It’s more like 16x.

You need EXPONENTIALLY more resources to solve problems in one-half or a quarter of the time as usual.

As you grow, you suddenly find that you have a bunch of problems that need to be fixed NOW.

So as you grow you have two choices:

Keep paying 16x what you should to solve your problems fast

OR

Plan ahead and find partners that can scale with you.
