The other day at a business scaling conference, someone asked me during lunch: "Do you think AI is going to reduce demand for international talent dramatically?"

I was shocked because at my recruiting agency, Go Carpathian, we’ve seen the exact opposite.

AI developments have INCREASED the demand for international talent.

Yes, it’s true that AI is replacing more and more unskilled/entry-level positions. But the real value in international talent was never about hiring the cheapest people to do the least valuable jobs.

It’s all about finding the best people who can deliver the most value anywhere in the world.

So yes, AI has actually increased demand.

AI cannot have opinions, unique insights, or genuine empathy. And for so many important roles in business, you need actual humans with judgment.

After helping hundreds of companies build global teams, here’s where I see humans continuing to beat out AI:

Where AI Helps But Humans Dominate

  • Content Creation: AI tools can draft blog posts and ad copy in seconds. But the content that actually converts comes from humans who understand nuance, audience psychology, and inject genuine creativity. The AI writes grammatically correct copy. Humans create campaigns that make people reach for their wallets.

  • Customer Support: Chatbots handle simple queries and route tickets. But when a frustrated customer needs genuine empathy or a complex problem requires creative troubleshooting, nothing beats a skilled support agent. Smart companies use AI for routine questions so their human agents can focus on high-value interactions where judgment matters.

  • Data Analysis: AI processes vast datasets and identifies patterns. But interpreting what those patterns mean for your business and turning them into an actionable strategy? That's where experienced analysts with business acumen shine. AI tells you what happened. Humans tell you why it matters and what to do about it.

  • Project Management: Tools track tasks and deadlines, but they can't manage stakeholder expectations, navigate office politics, or make the judgment calls that keep complex projects on track. Great project managers are problem solvers and relationship builders who know when to follow the plan and when to throw it out completely.

Why You Still Need Great People

The rise of AI makes talented people more valuable, not less. Here's why:

  1. Critical thinking creates breakthroughs. When faced with novel situations or complex problems without clear answers, human judgment is essential. AI follows established patterns. Humans create new solutions.

  1. Emotional intelligence drives results. As routine tasks get automated, the remaining human touchpoints become more significant. The ability to read between the lines, show empathy, and build trust directly impacts your bottom line.

  1. Quality control prevents disasters. AI tools require human oversight to ensure they're producing accurate, appropriate, and on-brand output. Someone needs to catch when the AI is confidently wrong (which happens constantly).

  1. Adaptation requires leadership. AI can help execute a strategy, but it can't create it. As markets evolve, you need people who can navigate uncertainty and guide your business forward.

Want to build a team that combines the efficiency of AI with irreplaceable human judgment? Let's talk about how we can find your next critical hire.

Until next time,
